|Santa Fe Scout Collection Handbags|
Reflecting Traditions of Western Spirit and Soul
I discovered Santa Fe Scout Collection handbags through the Chasing Santa Fe blog, and I was immediately hooked! These bohemian and yet elegant handbags are like none I have ever seen before. They are so unique and special, that almost every handbag sells immediately.
Santa Fe Scout Collection handbags are lovingly created in Santa Fe, New Mexico by Dana Waldon, who is also a talented photographer. The collection is named after Dana's dog Scout, and each style of handbag is named after her beloved dogs, past and present. Each handbag is built one at a time, using reclaimed materials such as rescued Navajo weavings, and embellished with vintage horse tack, conchos, elk tips, fringe, and turquoise. No two bags are alike, and each one is a wearable work of art. Because the bags are sewn by hand, production is small and inventory is limited. Therefore, if you see a handbag you like, you need to contact Dana immediately!
Featured below are a few current styles of Santa Fe Scout Collection handbags. The Russo Handbag (left) features a Navajo weaving with very unusual arrow patterning, hand stamped silver buttons, and a fabulous miniature guitar. The Belle Handbag (center) is perfect for an iPad and everyday running around. It features a horse tack strap with a hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds buckle. I also had to showcase the Dante Handbag (right), because I love the striking pattern in the weaving of this bag. Unfortunately, this handbag has already sold (within a couple of days!). However, Dana consistently creates new styles and designs of handbags, and I am sure you will find several others that you can't live without!
If you live in or near Santa Fe, you can find the Santa Fe Scout Collection at Antiques + Interiors on Grant and at The Flea at El Museo. If you live outside of Santa Fe, you can see more of Dana Waldon's distinctive handbags on the Santa Fe Scout Collection website, and the Santa Fe Scout Collection Facebook Page (the best place to see the most current styles of handbags!).
