The Art of the American Cowboy Fine Art Show & Sale

December 6 - 10, 2011 at South Point Hotel & Casino

The Western Art Association is proud to present the Second Annual "The Art of the American Cowboy" Fine Art Show & Sale, December 6 - 10 at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. "The Art of the American Cowboy" is the only fine art show to be held in Las Vegas during the NFR, and you won't want to miss it!

The Western Art Association was formed in 1972 to promote interest in Western art, artifacts, and to preserve our unique heritage. Thirty fine artists, sculptors, and crafts people are participating in this year's "The Art of the American Cowboy" Fine Art Show & Sale, which will include artist demonstrations each day, as well as "Quick Draw" competitions on Wednesday and Thursday, December 7 and 8, from 3 - 4 PM. The participating artists will have one hour to create a piece from start to finish. Immediately following the "Quick Draw" competitions, an auction will be held featuring the completed works from the "Quick Draw" competition, as well as the art pieces completed during the artist demonstrations.

I met some very talented artisans at last year's show, and am excited to see that they will be exhibiting again this year. Brandon Bailey is a Wyoming based artist who specializes in Western and wildlife art. He participated in the Cheyenne Frontier Days Art Show and Sale this past summer, where his work sold out for the second year in a row! His painting featured below left is called "Cowboy Casanova." Unfortunately, this painting has sold. However, you will be able to see more of Brandon's gorgeous work at "The Art of the American Cowboy" Fine Art Show & Sale. The stunning table featured in the center is a collaboration between furniture designer Dale Konow of Kono Designs and Carson Thomas, a talented second generation saddle maker. Dale designed and built the table, which features a beautiful hand carved leather inlay created by Carson. I am dying to see this table up close! Tim Harmon is a talented sculptor who draws inspiration for his bronzes from his own experiences in the saddle and those of the ranching men and women he has known. His piece featured below right is called "Raised in the Rocks," and depicts a cowboy working with a young horse. This piece received a 2010 Phippen Bronze Sculptor Award. Congratulations Tim!

Stop by to see these talented artisans and many more at "The Art of the American Cowboy" Fine Art Show & Sale, 10 AM - 6 PM, December 6 - 10 at the South Point Exhibit Hall. Visit the "Art of the American Cowboy" website for more information.
